PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work apparatus in a coke oven, in which a work vehicle does not obstruct the travel of a charging vehicle. SOLUTION: This work apparatus 1 in which the charging vehicle 110 traveling in the alternate arrangement direction of carbonization chambers and combustion chambers, having an opening 111 penetrated in the travel direction in a lower end-dented state and used for charging a raw material into a carbonization chamber, and the work vehicle 3 for performing maintenance works are disposed on a coke oven 100 in which the carbonization chambers 200 and the combustion chambers are alternately arranged and which has the many carbonization chambers 200 and the many combustion chambers is characterized in that the work vehicle 3 can travel on two or more rails 2 extended in the alternate arrangement direction of the carbonization chambers and the combustion chambers on the oven, turn at prescribed positions along the rails in approximate parallel to the rails 2, and pass through the opening 111.
