A cleaning tool (10) removes swarf from pre-cut tapped holes (2) in a work piece (1). The cleaning tool has an adapter (22) with a tube (11) incorporating a longitudinal slit (14), through which the fluid cleaning agent is introduced under pressure. The slit is angled to impart a tangential twist to the emerging fluid, thereby lifting impurities or particles from the threads. Also claimed is a commensurate cleaning process.
