<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate filter preventing cracking due to temperature deflection Δt(°C/cm), further improving fuel economy. <P>SOLUTION: The particulate filter has a plurality of cells with one ends closed, and is equipped with a honeycomb carrier having an edge face with the closed and open ends of the cells arranged alternately. The honeycomb carrier is characterized in that: a pressure loss on the central part of a gas inlet side edge face is larger than pressure loss on other parts; the cells near the central part of the gas inlet side edge face is protruded in the direction opposing the exhaust gas flow; the temperature deflection Δt of two arbitrary points on the long diameter of the edge face of the gas outlet side is made 100°C or less; and MAXΔsoot of PM caught is made 2.5 g/cm or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
