PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen container numbering device having advantages such that printed discrimination numbers are very visible even when the specimen containers are formed of transparent glass or the like. SOLUTION: This specimen container numbering device 10 is provided with a specimen container carrying-in part 21 to carry in the specimen containers, a discrimination number printing part 23 for printing a prescribed discrimination number comprising an ink jet type painting means 23a to apply base color on an outer circumferential surface of the specimen container T, and an ink jet type printing means 23b to print the prescribed discrimination number on the specimen container T after base color is painted by the painting means 23a, and a specimen container carrying-out part 24 to carry out the specimen containers as they are sorted after printing by the discrimination number printing part 23.
