PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for inspecting foreign substances within a stone which detects the presence or absence of foreign substances enclosed within a stone nondestructively and easily, despite of being small in size. SOLUTION: An electric wave is transmitted from a transmitting antenna 104 toward a package 101 by operating an oscillator 106 at a preselected frequency. Then, the electric wave which has passed through the package 101 and the stone 102 is received by a receiving antenna 105, and the intensity of the transmitted electric wave is detected by a spectrum analyzer 107. When a gap 103 is formed within the stone 102, the intensity of the transmitted electric wave reduces at the part. By moving the position of the transmitting antenna 104 and the receiving antenna 105 with respect to the package 101, and detecting a change in the intensity of the transmitted electric wave at that time by a computer 108 through the spectrum analyzer 107, the gap 103 and foreign substances within the stone 102 can be detected.
