PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior wall which enables a dry joint construction method to be simply and surely practiced even in the case of a sloped eave soffit, and which can solve the problem of a wet joint construction method. SOLUTION: In this exterior wall wherein packing 8 is fitted and inserted into a clearance 7 between an upper end of an exterior wall material 4 and the eave soffit 45, the packing 8 comprises: a main body part 8a which is inserted into the clearance 7 from an outdoor side so as to be supported on an upper end of the material 4; a locking part 8b which is protrusively provided downward at the outdoor-side end of the main body part 8a so as to be locked to the outer surface of the upper end of the material 4; and at least two outdoor-side and indoor-side airtight piece parts 8e and 8f which are protrusively provided upward on the top surface part of the main body part 8a at an interval in the direction of insertion, and which are elastically deformed to the outdoor side along with the insertion of the packing 8 into the clearance 7 so that each of tip sides can be brought into press-contact with an undersurface of the eave soffit 45. A contact point B, where the piece part 8e is brought into contact with the undersurface of the eave soffit 45, and a contact point C, where the piece part 8f is brought into contact with the undersurface of the eave soffit 45, are each positioned on the outdoor side and an indoor side in such a manner that a perpendicular Ls, which is drawn to the eave soffit 45 from a corner part A of an upper-end outer surface of the material 4, is sandwiched in between.
