PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic wire gauze for shifters which is excellent in magnetic properties, strengths, an opening degree precision, corrosion resistance, and abrasion resistance, to provide a wire gauze unit, and to provide a shifter. SOLUTION: A magnetic wire gauze for shifters prepared by weaving a low-C and high-Si stainless steel wire containing 5 to 8 mass% Ni, 15 to 20 mass% Cr, at most 0.03 mass% C, and 2.0 to 5.0 mass% Si to a specified degree of opening, a wire gauze unit using the wire, and a shifter are provided. More desirably, the stainless steel wire is a two-phase stainless steel comprising at most 0.03 mass% C, 3.0 to 4.5 mass% Si, 2.0 to 2.5 mass% Mn, 6.0 to 7.0 mass% Ni, 6.0 to 7.0 mass% Ni, 15.0 to 17.0 mass% Cr, and at least one member of 0.3 to 1.0 mass% Mo, 0.8 to 1.2 mass% Cu, and 0.1 to 0.5 mass% Nb, with the balance comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities.
