PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encrypted mail perusal system for enabling the perusal of encrypted mail information by means of an optional mail browser on a communication terminal side connected to a network. SOLUTION: This encrypted mail perusal system consists of a mail server 2, which receives encrypted mail information via the network 1 to store it, and of a communication terminal 33 having an encrypted mail perusal proxy part 332 for receiving an acquisition command for the mail information from a mail browser 331 and the mail information from the mail server 2 and a decoding processing part 333 for acquiring the mail information and decoding the mail information for outputting it to the mail browser 331. The encrypted mail perusal proxy part 332 is constructed in its function to relay communication between the mail server 2 and the mail browser 331 and to allow mutual conversion between a first communication protocol, which is followed by the communication carried out between the mail server 2 and the communication terminal 33, and a second communication protocol followed by the mail browser 331.
