PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake-isolating device to be changed to an active earthquake-isolation mode for weak earthquake, and a passive earthquake-isolation mode for strong earthquake. SOLUTION: The earthquake-isolating device comprises a base 2, a frame 3 with an article 30 to be earthquake-isolated mounted thereon, a first rail mechanism 6 provided on the base 2, a second rail mechanism 16 arranged orthogonal to the first rail mechanism 6 provided on a lower side of the frame 3, a transmission mechanism 11 to transmit the displacement of a movable block of the first rail mechanism 6 to the frame, a linear motor 7 arranged parallel to the first rail mechanism 6, a first earthquake-isolating mechanism 10 including a damping device 8 and a spring 9, a second earthquake-isolating mechanism 20 including a linear motor 17 arranged parallel to the second rail mechanism 16, a damping device 18 and a spring, an oscillation detection means 31 of the article 30 from the base 2, and a control means 40 to perform the drive and release the drive of the linear motor according to the degree of the detected oscillation and to change the active earthquake-isolating mode to use the linear motor and the passive earthquake-isolating mode not to use the linear motor.
