<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a good image by uniformly and electrostatically charging toner at all times. <P>SOLUTION: The toner and carrier are mixed while a microplasma is generated in a developing unit 59. The average grain size of the toner is specified to 3 to 8 μm, the average grain size of the carrier to 20 to 60 μm and the shaft torque of agitation conveyance screws 52 and 53 to 0.1 to 0.3 (kgf cm). The toner is electrostatically charged on a developer carrier by regulating a layer thickness by using a developer regulating member 56. The microplasma has UV rays/electrons/ions and is formed within a radius 100 μm of the portion where the toner and the carrier contact. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
