<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a storage medium from being pulled out of a slot when an information signal is written to the storage medium, while achieving miniaturization and thinning. <P>SOLUTION: A storage medium drive is provided with a holder 2 for holding the storage medium 100; terminal electrodes to which a plurality of connection terminals 105 for the storage medium are connected; a plunger 15 being movable in the directions in which the storage medium is moved into and out of the slot 201a; and a lock member 4 which is moved as the plunger moves, between a lock position where it is engaged in an engagement recess 109 in the storage medium to lock the storage medium held in the holder and an unlock position where it is pulled out of the engagement recess in the storage medium to unlock the storage medium held in the holder. At least while an information signal is being written to the storage medium, the lock member is moved to the lock position.
