PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor integrated circuit in which current consumption in a stand-by mode can be effectively suppressed. SOLUTION: A p-channel MOS (metal oxide semiconductor) transistor 50, as a switching circuit, is inserted in the power supply delivery path of an internal circuit 40. A stand-by control signal is externally inputted through an input terminal 10 in the stand-by mode and is stored, through an interface 20, on a register 30 for power down. As a result, a power down control signal SPWD is outputted to the gate of the p channel MOS transistor 50 from the register 30 for power down. Receiving the power down control signal SPWD, the p-channel MOS transistor 50 becomes an off state to interrupt power supply to the internal circuit 40. Consequently, current consumed in the internal circuit 40 is eliminated to effectively suppress the current consumption in the stand-by mode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
