PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for suppressing enlargement of a size of an engine in an axial direction of a crankshaft, while maintaining a change mechanism of a crank angle phase. SOLUTION: The crankshaft 14 is constituted by axially arranging a plurality of crank parts CR1-CR4 respectively for cylinders having crank pins 42-45 at portions eccentric from crank journals 31-37. The crank journals of the crank parts CR2, CR3 arranged at a central part in the axial direction are mutually linked so as not to be relatively rotated, so that an integral crank structure 29 is formed. The internal combustion engine has crank angle phase variable devices 51, 52 respectively disposed between the crank journals 33, 35 at both ends of the crank structure 29 and the crank journals 32, 36 of neighboring crank parts CR1, CR4. The crank angle phase variable devices 51, 52 change a crank angle phase by relatively rotating the neighboring crank journals 32, 33 or the neighboring crank journals 35, 36.
