PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated paper for printing, having excellent operationality by the use of a metered film transfer coater, excellent white paper appearance, printed surface appearance, whiteness and opacity and low density and provide a method for the production of the coated paper. SOLUTION: The coated paper for printing having at least one coating layer on a single or both surfaces of a base paper is produced by using a coating liquid containing 5-30 mass% resin particles having a particle diameter of≥400 nm as a pigment in the coating layer and applying the coating liquid to the base paper by a metered film transfer coater at a coating speed of≥900 m/min. Preferably, the coated paper for printing is produced by applying the coating liquid to the base paper and calendering with a roll having a surface temperature of 90-210°C.
