PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the general die such as a cold forging die, a hot forging die and a press die to be applied to nitriding treatment, to provide a tool or a fixture, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: In the production of a tool and a die, decarburization treatment is performed before nitriding treatment, so that the nitrided tool and die are produced. In the above production, decarburization treatment is performed at a decarburization depth d=30 to 500μm from the surface of the die, and thereafter, nitriding treatment is applied, so that the nitrided tool and die are produced.
