PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an aromatic polyester having an improved color tone. SOLUTION: The process for producing the aromatic polyester comprises heating a reaction product obtained by acetylating raw monomers of the aromatic polyester with acetic anhydride or raw monomers, part of which is acetylated with the use of a condensation polymerization tank having a partial condenser to perform condensation polymerization, and obtaining the aromatic polyester while partially condensing a distillate to recover a condensate in the condensation polymerization tank. As the material of the liquid contact surface of the partial condenser, a nickel/molybdenum alloy or a nickel/molybdenum/chromium alloy is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
