PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roofing material which has unprecedented workability, and wherein a waterproof function, a heat insulating function, an anti-dew-condensation function etc. are formed. SOLUTION: This roofing material A comprises: a first waterproof piece 13 where an uppermost-side leading end of a facing 4 is protruded upward; a fitting piece 13a where a leading end of the waterproof piece 13 is protruded to an uppermost side; a second waterproof piece 13b where the leading end of the waterproof piece 13 is protruded upward on a lowermost side; a vertical piece 6 which forms a fixing piece 15 where the leading end of the facing 4 is protruded to the uppermost side, and which is protruded upward at the lowermost-side leading end of the facing 4; a downward-protruded stepped facing 6a; a backmost piece 8 where the vicinity of the lowermost-side end of the facing 4 is protruded downward; and an insertion piece 9 where the leading end of the backmost piece 8 is protruded to the lowermost side. In the roofing material A, an engaging groove 10 is formed of the facing 4, the backmost piece 8 and the insertion piece 9, and a width between an uppermost end of the fitting piece 13a and a lowermost end of the waterproof piece 13b is formatively set almost equal to a width between the backmost piece 8 and the stepped facing 6a.
