PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To put a needle through a needle hole without interference with a throat plate when the needle is lowered by a simple constitution, and to prevent a material to be sewn on the throat plate from dropping into the needle hole. SOLUTION: At the throat plate 12 of the sewing machine having the needle hole 12a which the needle body part 14a of a punching needle 14 can be put through, a sheet-shaped needle hole covering member 60 which covers the needle hole, which has a needle hole 60a having a hole diameter smaller than that of the needle hole 12a and which the needle body part 14a can be put through is detachably fitted. Thus, a cloth to be worked on the throat plate 12 is prevented from dropping downward through the needle hole 12a, and can smoothly be moved on the throat plate 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
