<p>The control method has the ignition timing angle for the IC engine adjusted for preventing a rapid variation in the engine torque when the engine is switched from the normal operating mode to a free-running operating mode, with the fuel injected into at least one engine cylinder via a multiple injection, such that at least part of the fuel is injected during the compression phase (K). An independent claim for a control device for operating mode switching in an IC engine is also included.</p> |
