<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure that makes it possible to start the standby operation of a printer engine earlier in an image forming apparatus whose controller control system is slow to start compared to an engine control system. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a controller control system 100 that receives instruction of an image forming operation and sets the image forming operation; and an engine control system 110 that, on the basis of the set image forming operation, controls a printer engine 3 that forms images by using an electrophotographic system. The image forming apparatus further has a first nonvolatile storage device 104 that is provided to the controller control system 100 and stores all the set information relating to the operation conditions of each part. The engine control system 110 is provided with a second nonvolatile storage device 116 that stores minimum set information necessary to start the standby operation of the printer engine 3 after the power source is turned on. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
