PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correctly transmitting route information concerning a recommended route or a guide route to the receiving side in the minimum data quantity. SOLUTION: The transmission side conducts arithmetic processes to position data of a plurality of points on a route to convert them into data having variation statistically, and code the data into variable length to be provided as compression data to the receiving side. The receiving side decodes the compression data to restore the position data, and identifies the route by map-matching.
