PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly and surely supply a liquid to a liquid ejection head by well supplying the liquid into a liquid supply needle from a cartridge. SOLUTION: A carriage having a cartridge holder which the cartridge is mounted to and the ink supply needle 19 inserted into a needle inserted part 28 of the cartridge, and a recording head 4 attached to the carriage and to discharge the liquid supplied through the ink supply needle 19, are provided. The ink supply needle is constituted of: a cylindrical needle fuselage part; a hollow needle-like frame 33 having a conical needle tip part continuing to the other tip of the fuselage part and an ink passage therein; and an ink absorbing body 34 arranged in the ink passage. In the frame 33, an opening window 38 to communicate the ink passage with an external space is opened.
