PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an allocation processing of a volume and to improve operability for operation management of a storage. SOLUTION: A requirement feature of each application, an attribute value about performance and reliability, and a feature of a volume which defines a categorization of level of them, are expressed numerically and registered in a volume management table. A user conducts a volume selection processing by specifying a category of the application, a performance level, and a reliability level as a factor of a policy. A storage operation management system calculates the upper limit and the lower limit of a level threshold of the volume, which is a selection target, from the feature value of the volume management table, and presents the volume within the limits to the user as a candidate of the allocation. The threshold is set in response to the change of a system configuration, and the volume is selected and allocated based on the newly set threshold by automatically updating the volume management table when a storage device composing the system changes.
