PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator which can be downsized by installing a generating means composed of an axial flow-type water wheel whose dimension becomes smaller in the diameter direction and in the axis direction, and to provide an automatic faucet device equipped with the generator. SOLUTION: In the generater equipped with a generating means 30 which is arranged in the water passage 6 between a water source and a spout and generates electric power by rotating a water wheel 31 by the running water in the water passage 6, the generating means 30 is composed of the water wheel 31, a permanent magnet 34 fixed to the water wheel 31, and a stator coil 40 which generates electromotive force by the rotation of the permanent magnet 34. The water wheel 31 includes an axial flow-type blade part 32a which is coaxially formed with the permanent magnet 34 and constituted so as to rotate by the water flow running through the inside of the permanent magnet 34.
