PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can suppress defects in image quality from occurring by reducing a gap between pixel electrodes. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a TFT substrate 1 where pixel electrodes are arranged in matrix, a counter substrate which is arranged opposite the TFT substrate across a specified gap, and liquid crystal held in the gap between the TFT substrate and counter substrate, and adjacent pixel electrodes are formed in different pixel electrode layers.
