PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polystyrene-based resin excellent in flame retardancy and a flame-retardant resin composition which contains the resin and is excellent in flame retardancy and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The polystyrene-based resin contains repeating units represented by general formula (1) (wherein Ar1is an optionally substituted phenylene group; Ar2is an optionally substituted phenyl group; and m is an integer of 2 or more).
