PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a homoallyl alcohol by a one-stage reaction in a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for synthesizing the homoallyl alcohol represented by general formula (2) (R1and R2each may be the same or different and are each a substituted or nonsubstituted 6-10C aryl group; the aryl group may be substituted with a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C alkoxy group or a halogen atom) comprises reacting an alkylidene cyclopropane represented by general formula (1) with water in the presence of Cu(OTf)2in an inert gas atmosphere at 70-90°C in a liquid state for 3-4 days.
