PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner for reducing deterioration due to oxidization and dust adhesion on the front surface of a discharge electrode with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: the discharge electrode 2 for discharging ions; and a brush 4 being a cleaning means to clean the front surface of the discharge electrode 2. The front surface of the discharge electrode 2 is rubbed with the brush 4. The rubbing is performed with the simple structure. The front surface of the discharge electrode 2 is cleaned, so as to reduce deterioration due to oxidization and dust adhesion on the front surface of the discharge electrode 2.
