An electrophotographic apparatus including a cylindrical layered electrophotographic photoreceptor. Electrophotographic processing components are disposed in the vicinity of a peripheral surface of the photoreceptor. The apparatus forms images by operating the processing components while rotating the photoreceptor. The following relationships expressions (1) and (2) exist among the peripheral speed V in mm/sec of the photoreceptor, the contact angle A in degrees of the surface of the photoreceptor to pure water, and the thickness T in mum of a charge transport layer of the photoreceptor: V<0.1>xAxT<0.2><270 (1) T>25 (2).
