Disclosed is a composition which contains a polymer compound having a repeating unit represented by the general formula (1) below and a number-average molecular weight of 10<3>-10<8> in terms of polystyrene and a compound which emits light from the triplet excited state. Also disclosed is a polymer complex compound which has a repeating unit represented by the general formula (1) below, another repeating unit selected from the formulae (12) and (13) below, and a metal complex structure which emits light from the triplet excited state. In the formulae below, the ring P and ring Q respectively represent an aromatic ring; Y represents -O-, -S-, or the like; Ar15 and Ar16 respectively represent a trivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group; R40 represents an alkyl group or the like; X represents a single bonding or the like; Ar6, Ar7, Ar8 and Ar9 respectively represent an arylene group or the like; Ar10, Ar11 and Ar12 respectively represent an aryl group or the like; and x and y independently represent 0 or 1 and 0 <= x+y <= 1.
