This invention relates to a method for assembling side airbag modules that consists of a first step in which the inflatable bag is folded in the manner of bellows, a second step in which it is rolled starting from the end opposite the casing, and a third step in which it is inserted in the casing. <??>The invention also relates to a device for assembling side airbag modules according to the method mentioned, which includes means for positioning the unfolded bag on a fixed working plate, means for folding the side parts of the bag in the manner of bellows, means for rolling the bag, means for inserting the folded, rolled bag in the casing, and auxiliary means. The aforesaid rolling means have regulation and control elements that make it possible to give the rolled bag the desired number of turns. <IMAGE>
