The procedure, for use on a textile fabric (10) with a raised nap or loops, consists of heating the back of the fabric to a temperature of 140 - 200 degrees C, depending on the type of fabric, and applying jets of air (8) to its upper surface through nozzles (5) as the fabric passes over driven rollers (2, 3). The nozzles are attached to an adjustable bar (4) and the distance and angle of the air jets can be adjusted relative to the surface of the fabric by a digital control unit (16).
