A water permeable asphalt concrete of high durability and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to protect the asphalt concrete pavement from aging and plastic deformation by employing filler and diatomite for extending the lifetime of the pavement. A water permeable asphalt concrete of high durability comprises 65-80% by weight of coarse aggregate, 14-26% by weight of fine aggregate, 4-5% by weight of asphalt, 2-4% by weight of filler and 10-35% by weight of diatomite (the ratio filler:diatomite is 9-1:1-7). The coarse aggregate has particle size of 13-2.5mm which passes through 20, 13, 10, 5, 2.5 and 1.2mm sieve in the amount of 100% by weight, 90-100% by weight, 40-75% by weight, 5-25% by weight, 0-10% by weight and 0-5% by weight, respectively, and the fine aggregate has particle size of 5-0.08mm. The filler is selected from a group consisting of limestone powder, igneous rock powder, cement slacked lime and steel-making dust, and the filler passes through 0.6, 0.3, 0.15 and 0.08mm sieve in the amount of 100% by weight, at least 95% by weight, at least 90% by weight and at least 70% by weight, respectively. The combined particles of the coarse aggregate, fine aggregate and filler pass through 20, 13, 5, 2.5, 0.3 and 0.08mm sieve in the amount of 100% by weight, 95-100% by weight, 15-35% by weight, 10-25% by weight, 5-15% by weight and 0-10% by weight, respectively. The diatomite is purified by calcining at 800-1200deg.C in a rotation furnace. A colored water permeable asphalt concrete comprises 1.5-3% by weight of asphalt pigment with respect to the total water permeable asphalt concrete.
