摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently relieve a gear shifting shock during engagement of a clutch as shortening of a gear shifting time is secured in relation to the target speed of a shift up demand and a difference in the number of increasing speeds, in an automatic transmission for a vehicle comprising a means to generate a hear shifting demand; and a means to control a clutch actuator and a gear shift actuator to perform gear shifting to a demand speed. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission for a vehicle comprises a means (a) to set the operation time of an auxiliary brake corresponding to the number of shift up speeds regarding each speed of a transmission 3; a means (step 1 - step 2) to decide the number of shift up speeds when a gear shift demand is shift up; and a means (step 4, step 5, step 7) to determine the operation time of a corresponding auxiliary brake based on the number of speeds and the present speed of the transmission and control operation of an auxiliary brake so that reduction of an engine rotation speed is accelerated within the limit of the operation time.
