PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating an arthritis treatment effect in a leukocyte removal apparatus by using an adjuvant arthritis rat with the use of repeatable blood extracorporeal circulation method. SOLUTION: The method for evaluating the arthritis treatment effect in the leukocyte removal apparatus by using the adjuvant arthritis rat is characterized as follows. A blood circuit, where a circuit capacity including the leukocyte removal apparatus is≥0.5mL and≤1.5mL, is connected via a syringe between the cervical vein and the tail vein of the anesthetized rat, so as to collect the blood into the blood circuit. A leukocyte removal treatment for returning the blood, which corresponds to 60-100% of the amount of whole blood amount in the rat, to the tail vein through the leukocyte removal apparatus is carried out not less than twice between the sixth to thirteenth day after adjuvant administration, while continuously administering an anticoagulant. Then, at least one parameter concerning the adjuvant arthritis is measured before and after the leukocyte removal treatment. Thus, the parameter values are compared to determine the treatment effect.
