A method and a system for providing a key user interface are provided to offer an environment capable of executing a desired direct function conveniently by pressing a key button over a predetermined time and offer a short-cut function for executing the direct function without affecting a usual input device use system while using an OS(Operating System) or an application. A memory(110) records a key button and a command corresponding to the key button. A first determiner(120) determines whether a second key button is pressed after an interrupt generation time and generates an interrupt signal when the second key button is pressed after the interrupt generation time. A second determiner(130) determines whether a key-down duration of the second key button satisfies a direct function generation time, and recognizes the command corresponding to the second key button from the memory when the direct generation time is satisfied. A driving controller drives a direct function corresponding to the recognized command. The interrupt generation time is an interval set from previous key-up or key-down of a first button.
