FIELD: medicine, medicinal biochemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to applying polyuronic acids or their salts as agents used in substitution therapy of diseases associated with disturbance of metabolic processes, in particular, conjugation reactions with glucuronic acid (renal coma, hepatocellular insufficiency, hepatitis, jaundices and others). Agent for substitution therapy comprising uronic acids involves polygalacturonic acid with esterification degree 40.4% (beet pectin) or derivative of polymannuronic and polyguluronic acid sodium salts (sodium alginate) as uronic acids.
