PURPOSE: A nonaqueous electrolyte and a lithium secondary battery containing the electrolyte are provided, to improve swelling inhibition at high temperature and capacity characteristic by using an additive capable of inhibiting the generation of gas inside a battery. CONSTITUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte comprises a lithium salt; a nonaqueous organic solvent; and an electrolyte additive selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the formula 1 and its derivatives, wherein R1 is H, an alkyl group, an aryl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an ester group or a carbonate group. Also the nonaqueous electrolyte comprises a lithium salt; a nonaqueous organic solvent; and a compound selected from the group consisting of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, 1-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone, 1-phenyl-2-pyrrolidone and their mixture, and fluoroethylene carbonate. |
