PURPOSE: A mobile station receiving diversity apparatus and method in an HDR(High Data Rate) mobile system is provided to reduce errors in data demodulation by determining the optimum diversity receiving state on the basis of the start point of a pilot channel or a preamble signal at a forward radio channel where a pilot channel or a preamble signal for synchronization exists periodically. CONSTITUTION: A mobile station receiving diversity apparatus in an HDR mobile system is comprised of the first and second antennas(100,102), a Tx/Rx duplexer(104), a band pass filter(106), the first and second low noise amplifiers(108,110), the first and second phase shifters(112,114), a signal combiner(116), a local oscillator(118), a mixer(120), an IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal processor(122), a received signal processor(130), and a transmitter(140). The received signal processor(130) comprises a baseband signal processing part(131), a pilot channel C/I(Carrier-to-Interference) measurer(132), and a diversity control part(133). The baseband signal processing part(131) converts an IF signal, outputted from the IF signal processor(122), into a baseband signal and despreads it. The pilot channel C/I measurer(132) measures the C/I of the despread pilot channel of each antenna and detects the variation state of the pilot channel of the presently selected antenna. The diversity control part(133) controls an in-phase combining diversity operation and a selective diversity operation according to the measured C/I of the pilot channel of each antenna and determines the maintenance time of a selected diversity operation according to the detected channel variation state. |
