PURPOSE: A monitoring digital camera having a power line communication scheme is provided to embed a high-speed power line communication function therein, thereby realizing an easy installation and operation through simple lines. CONSTITUTION: A camera(20) comprises as follows. A power unit(21) receives a common AC power in connection with a power line(30), and supplies the power to each unit. An image unit(27) photographs an image, and outputs the image as an electric signal. A transmitter(28) modulates an image signal outputted from the image unit(27) according to a power line communication scheme, and outputs the modulated signal. A coupler(26) couples the modulated image signal with power of the power line(30), and protects a circuit by preventing an AC voltage having more than a predetermined level from flowing into the transmitter(28).
