PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for transmitting a control signal for supporting an MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service) are provided to effectively process data by allowing a mobile terminal to process only a transport channel transmitting an MBMS control signal. CONSTITUTION: An MCCH(MBMS Control CHannel) is transmitted through an S-CCPCH(Secondary-Common Control Physical CHannel) 1(610) to an arbitrary cell(605), and the S-CCPCH 1(610) includes a plurality of FACHs(Forward Access CHannel)(625,630). A FACH_MCCH through which the MCCH is to be transmitted is notified through system information, and the MCCH is transmitted through only the FACH(630) and only logical channels are transmitted through the FACH(625). UEs that desire to receive the MCCH recognize a TFS(Transport Format Set) of the FACH_MCCH and a TFCS(Transport Format Combination Set) of the S-CCPCH through the system information. The UEs translate the TFCI(Transport Format Combination Identity) of the S-CCPCH, process only data corresponding to the FACH_MCCH, and transfer it to an MAC layer. In this manner, the UEs do not receive FACHs not including the MCCH but only FACHs including the MCCH.
