PURPOSE: A steering system for a vehicle is provided to prevent driver's injury by absorbing secondary impact when a collision accident occurs. CONSTITUTION: A steering system for a vehicle comprises a steering wheel; a steering shaft(52) combined with the steering wheel in an integrally rotating state, to transmit steering force to wheels; a steering column(54) enclosing the steering shaft; a capsule(56) one side of which is fixed to a vehicle body; a bracket(58) fixed to the other side of the capsule and fixed to the vehicle body; and a bend plate(60) one side of which is fixed to the bracket. The capsule encloses the steering column. The bracket supports the capsule. If impact is transmitted from the steering wheel, the bend plate is bent in the longitudinal direction and impact is absorbed.
