The control of the operation of a burner used to heat the distribution channels for molten glass from a glass-making furnace, the burner being fed by a fuel and oxygen, involves the injection of an additional gas to complement the oxygen in a manner such that the sum of the oxygen flow and the additional gas flow may be greater than or equal to the minimal cooling flow of the burner. An independent claim is also included for a combustion system using this method of burner control.
