Windings (2) for a stator (1) have conductors (4) which are either crimped within sleeves to supply conductors (8) or welded to them. The joints are contained within an insulated junction box (10) which is fixed to the stator laminations (3) and has a body and lid. The winding conductors are kept in place by a clip (21) which is made in one piece with the junction box.
