PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polychloroprene dispersion showing improved storage stability and adhesive properties. SOLUTION: An aqueous polymer dispersion is obtained by comprising (a) producing a polychloroprene aqueous dispersion containing a gel content of 0.1-30 wt.% on the basis of a polymer produced by polymerizing, at 0-70°C, chloroprene and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith, and then (b) storing the dispersion at 50-110°C until the gel content increases at least 10 wt.% on the basis of the polymer to become 1-60 wt.%.
