<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of attaining gradation display which suppresses the generation of false outlines of moving images by optimizing the structure of sub-fields and capable of improving the quality of moving images. <P>SOLUTION: As to the image display device in which one field of an image signal is constituted of a plurality of sub-fields, the sub-fields are selectively turned on or off in accordance with the array order to display images, respective sub-fields are constituted of three first, second and third groups successively arrayed from the start position of the sub-fields up to the end position, and the lengths of these sub-fields are controlled so that the lengths of the sub-fields are successively shortened from the start position of the second group to the end position, each of the lengths of all sub-fields of the first group is shorter than the length of the sub-field on the end position of the second group, and the lengths of the sub-fields in the third group are complementary to the lengths of sub-fields of the second group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
