PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compositing unit and its method and a program and an image reproduction processor for compositing an image to the low order hierarchy of a previously composited image. SOLUTION: Image data ImA and ImB are composited by a rate corresponding to each transparencyαA andαB by a first compositing part 10, and transparencyαE of the composite image data ImE is decided according to the transparencyαA andαB by a transparency deciding part 40. Image data ImC in the high order hierarchy of the image data ImB and the composite image data ImE are composited by a rate corresponding to transparencyαC andαE by a first compositing part 20 in the next stage in the same way, and transparencyαF of the composite image data ImF is decided according to the transparencyαC andαE. When the image data ImC are defined as the lowest order hierarchy and the composite image data ImF are defined as its high order hierarchy, those two image data are composited by a rate corresponding to the transparencyαF of the high order hierarchy by a second compositing part 30.
