PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cup beverage vending machine capable of accurately discharging the desired amount of ice from an ice maker and accurately obtaining the amount of small broken ice needed particularly for manufacturing frozen beverage. SOLUTION: A gate is closed when a prediction is made that the desired amount of ice cubes has been discharged from the ice outlet, based on the amount that ice cubes have passed. When the desired amount of ice cubes equals the total of a to j detection signals ON, then in (a) the amount that ice cubes have passed is large because of the short intervals of detection signals OFF, and a closing signal (OFF signal) is sent at the time when up to g detection signals are inputted to hold the gate closed; a prediction is made that the amount of ice cubes for the remaining h to j signals has already been discharged from the ice outlet and remains in a guide passage. In (b), the amount that the ice cubes have passed is small because of the long intervals of the detection signals OFF and a closing signal (OFF signal) is sent at the time when up to h detection signals are inputted to hold the gate closed; a prediction is made that the amount of ice cubes for the remaining i, j signals has already been discharged from the ice outlet and remains in the guide passage.
