PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suppress development of an attached layer on a membrane surface without deepening an immersion tank and with a little air. SOLUTION: In a device for immersion type membrane separation wherein a membrane element is immersed in the immersion tank to perform separation processing, an air siphon chamber 17 is installed below a membrane 15 constituting the membrane element 12 and is connected with an air supply tube 35, and after intermittent blow-off of air stagnating in the air siphon chamber 17 from an air outlet 27 at a blast, a mass of air bubbles blown off from the air outlet 27 is brought into contact with the membrane 15.
