PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium of which the noise is satisfactorily reducible, its manufacturing method, and a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium, a non-magnetic undercoat layer 2, 1st magnetic layer 3, non-magnetic coupling layer 4, 2nd magnetic layer 5 and protective layer 6 are layered in this order on a non-magnetic substrate 1, wherein the 2nd magnetic layer 5 is anti-ferromagnetically coupled with the 1st magnetic layer 3, and the 1st magnetic layer 3 is made of CoCrZr-based alloy.
